Presentations & posters
A central feature of the WOC is its extensive lecture program, featuring over 40 planned presentations across two parallel streams.
We prioritize not only showcasing renowned experts in orchid research and cultivation but also providing a platform for young speakers to share their ideas and insights with a broad audience. This blend of experience and fresh perspectives will enrich discussions and open new avenues for exploration.
The lecture program will be complemented by a scientific poster presentation that visually represents further topics, focusing on the exploration of individual species and genera. The WOC offers an excellent opportunity to present the latest findings on selected orchid species, their pollinators, phylogenetics, and evolution. Particularly intriguing is the comparison of orchids across (almost) all continents and climate zones, which opens up numerous avenues for discussion.
Another key aspect of the conference is the protection of native orchids and their associated ecology. The global diversity of orchids is critically dependent on the preservation of their habitats and an understanding of their pollinators. In this context, we will address the impacts of climate change and demonstrate how promoting biodiversity can positively influence the conservation of these fascinating plants.
Sustainability will also play a central role in discussions surrounding breeding, cultivation, fertilization, and pest management. Additionally, WOC 2026 will feature presentations on orchids in their natural habitats. Experienced travelers will share their experiences and showcase stunning photographs that highlight the beauty and intricate details of orchids through macro photography.
